Most days, I can multitask like a champ.
I hit deadlines and meet a myriad of responsibilities from sunup to sundown. Even when my energy starts to wane, my helper’s heart usually wants to get just “one more thing” done. First on my daily to-do list? Keep all the plates spinning.
But lately, keeping them all spinning feels harder. With an eyebrow raised at the stress it’s been under, my body has been asking, “Would you sit down somewhere? You’re doing the most.”
Sometimes life can feel like a lot for all of us. The news. The noise. The uncertainty. The needs of those we love. The things we wish we could change but can’t. Days like today that hold so much memory.
Yet, the world keeps demanding we show up. We push through the heaviness, scrambling to meet our obligations, keep everyone happy, and never drop a single ball.
And if we’re honest? Amidst all this doing, it rarely feels safe to rest. The thought of dropping our guard is a threat to our minds and bodies. Friend, I know firsthand the toll of constantly bracing for the next shoe to drop, ready to respond.
I won’t offer you a list of to-do solutions, or remind you how strong you are. Instead, I’ll simply pray. For you, for me.
For all of us who are carrying more than we’d like to admit . . .
May we feel God’s peace settling into the places where anxiety has made itself at home.
May we remember that we were never meant to place the whole world on our shoulders.
May we give ourselves permission to step away from the noise, breathe deeply, and be still.
And when the world feels especially heavy, may we know this:
God is still here. He is still good. He’s still holding what we cannot.
And, surely, God is holding us, too. It’s safe to rest in Him.
Amen.
