Last year did a number on me, y’all.
More hate between Red and Blue. Deep hurt as a 92 percent Black woman who voted for the common good (because we’re completely – not selectively – honest about the country we love, too). Knowing that so many folks voted for rich people who are clearly self-serving, but they can’t or won’t see it that way.
It was all disappointing and hurtful and exhausting. And, carrying those feelings into 2025 would be so, so easy.
But I don’t want to. I don’t want the toxicity of what’s happening in America to keep zapping my energy, distracting me from working on my health, my relationships, my writing.
I have good work to do. Improving my wellness and energy. Celebrating beautiful moments with my village of loved ones and friends. Publishing books that bless others (hello, with a high-five!).
I won’t ignore America’s short-sighted blunders and intentional errors. But, She must want to heal and grow. And her healing work isn’t my responsibility.
I’ve got plenty more of my own growing to do in 2025. Beginning with less negativity allowed near my heart and mind. Less proximity to defeatist-minded people. Less worrying over what may go wrong in this new year.
And, more faith in what’s possible this year. More focus on what I can create for the greater good. More gratitude in advance for all the ways I’ll see God show up – and how I’ll grow in the process.
Less will be way more for me. How about you?
Let Me Know: How will less mean more for you this year?
