One More Thing

Not sure if you can relate, but some seasons of our lives can feel like being in a Job season.

You remember him. Job, as in the guy in the Bible whose name rhymes with “lobe.”  The one who endured a long stretch of loss, grief, and heartbreak that should have, by all human standards, broken him. Yet, it did not, because of his steadfast faith and God’s grace.

There are times in our lives when challenges begin stacking up like laundry no one has time to fold. A hard conversation. A health scare. Financial stress. Caring for others. Exhaustion. The weight builds quietly at first, and then suddenly it feels unbearable. We finally look up to Heaven and whisper something Job himself may have prayed when so much piled on him, too.

Lord, I cannot handle one more thing.

One more hard thing can feel like the final straw. The moment we fear we will snap.

And God knows it.

He made us. He understands our limits, our emotions, and the breaking points we try so hard to hide. He sees the weight we carry, even when we do not name it out loud. God never asks us to white knuckle our way through life or prove how strong we are on our own.

The good news is this: God does not ask us to carry everything at once. He invites us to hand it over. Scripture gently reminds us, “Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.” (I Peter 5:7)

Not when you have it all together, and not after you fix it. Right now, one heavy thing at a time.

You are not alone, friend. And you were never meant to carry it all by yourself. Let Him help you with that one more thing.

Your Turn:
What is the “one more thing” you need to place into God’s hands today?
